Understanding what is on your Payslip can be confusing, we get it! Due to the amount of information your employers are required to provide, your Payslip can quickly become overwhelming to look at. Below we will break down the items you should always see on your payslip.
At the very top of your payslip you will note a few different things.

Contact and Business details for your employer, this includes:
- Business name
- Business address
- Payroll email address
- Business ABN
- Business phone number

Payment date - This is the date that the payroll officer or team processed your pay and uploaded it to the bank.
Note: The date you receive the money in your account may be different to the Payment date and will depend on your bank's processing time.
- Pay period - The period of work for which you are being paid. This pay period is determined by your employer and could be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
- Gross Pay - This is the total calculation of your total paid hours of work, plus any additional Taxable and Non-taxable Allowances, and paid Entitlements.

Net Pay - This is the amount that will be paid to your bank account.
- To calculate Net Pay = Gross Pay - Tax - Additional Tax - Non-taxable Deductions + Non-taxable Allowances.

You will also see the following personal details:
- Employee legal name
- foundU Employee ID number
- Postal Address
- Employment Basis

Employment Position(s)

Below this, from the middle of your payslip down, you will see 2 key sections.
- Hours: This will show the Hours worked, this could include Ordinary and Overtime hours, along with additional shift penalties, and break penalties.

Summary: The Summary contains your current pay details for the pay period along with your Year To Date (YTD) totals, broken down into:
- Total Hours paid
- Total Taxable Items - This is the total dollar figure amount for any Taxable Allowances.
- Total Gross pay
- Total Tax
- Total Non-Tax Items - This is the total dollar figure amount for any Non-taxable Allowances.
- Total Deductions
- Total Net Pay
At the very bottom of your payslip you will see the following financial details.

Superannuation:
- This section will display your Superannuation fund details, which includes your funds USI number and your member number, along with:
- Super Guarantee - The total super to be paid to you by your employer for the current pay period.

Bank Details:
- You will be able to see the last 3 digits of your bank account number, along with BSB and Account Name.

Sometimes your payslip might include additional items, these could be one off, or reocurring to your payslips.
Additional fields you may see are:

Reimbursements - This is used to cover the cost for expenses that come up while working, this could be for things such as:
- Food expenses while travelling
- Personal mobile phone use
- Fuel for travel
- Accomodation for overnight stays

Pay Items / Allowances - These can be taxable or non taxable items paid to you by your employer for things such as:
- Uniform refunds
- Allowances for higher duties worked
- Back pay

Deductions - Deductions can be in place for things such as:
- Child support payments
- Salary Sacrifice
- Uniform repayments
- Entitlements Paid - Any paid Entitlements taken such as Annual Leave or Personal leave paid.

Entitlements Accrual - Accrued hours for your Entitlements.
- The quantity (Qty) column will show the amount accrued for the pay period covered in the payslip
- the amount column will display the current balance of hours accrued towards your Entitlements.
- HELP - If you have a HELP/HECS debt and currently earn above the repayment threshold, your Summary will display a row that displays separately how much of your tax for the current pay period is going towards your HELP/HECS debt.
- Super Salary Sacrifice and/or Personal Super Contributions - If you have set up any additional salary sacrifice or personal contributions towards your super, this will be displayed underneath your Super Guarantee.
- Additional Tax - If you have set up any Additional Tax payments, this will be displayed underneath your Superannuation.
